I often photographed at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. I turned my attention to a favorite and simple pleasure, flowers. As I began painting, I realized that I wished to portray the unique "heart" of each flower. I also eliminated cumbersome painting techniques to emulate the pleasure of watercolor using thin expressive washes of color on canvas. Cutting out the shape enlisted a shadow giving a 3D experience to the viewer.
