White on White 1974-75

Returning from my exhibition in Paris, and having become aware of a new advertising technique, I returned to the “hand” as a symbol and metaphor. I wished to blend sight and touch as a visual experience by portraying an intimate perspective in the visual translation of the “sense” of touch. By utilizing monochromatic black and white, I explored a sensual voyeurism, similar to the movie experience where one immerses oneself in the characters in the dark. This connection between sight, identification and memory allows the viewer to make what is depicted their own experience.
